Got Passionate All Up In That Piece

Last week I gave a presentation on passion-centric online communities, which are online communities like Dogster and Catster that are dedicated to a single topic or passion. There is no doubt in my mind that in a couple years there will be tens of thousands of such online communites, many of them with more than a million users and many that will be self-sustaining businesses.
I posted my slides and links to audio casts and other’s notes on the Dogster blog. Thanks to Carsons Workshops for inviting me to speak at their Future of Web Applications Summit. I think the fact they kept the entry price to under $300 explained why there were so many attendents that were the really doers and designers of the current wave of web development. Kudos to that!
