Really Looking Forward to Future of Web Apps Summit

Picture 22.png I’m going to be speaking at to speak at The Future of Web Applications Summit in San Francisco Sept. 13 & 14th. My panel is entitled “The State, Future and Business of Passion-Centric Communities” and I’ll be doing a run-through of the diaspora of internet-based socaility services, the deep pervasity I expect them to have in even the near future and how people are making businesses out off them. By passion-centric I mean sites that revolve around a single focal-point, as I find the thousands of such sites that will blossom in near future are much more interesting than the couple of mega sites that has already been analyzed ad nausea.

Carson Systems - the conference organizers - are the real deal. Along with doing conferences, they are a software start-up (DropSend, Amigo) and oversee excellent developer resources (ThinkVitamin and BD4D) The best part is the whole two-day conference is only $295 which means they are committed to everyone’s future web, not just those with corporate budgets.

FWA_badge.pngHere’s the list of confirmed speakers of which I’m honored to share the stage with. Cal Henderson (Flickr) Matt Mullenweg (WordPress), Ev Williams (Odeo/Blogger), Kevin Rose (digg), Mike Arrington (TechCrunch), Tantek Çelik (Technorati), Tom Coates (Yahoo!), Carl Sjogreen (Google Calendar), Steve Olechowski (Feedburner), Mike Davidson (Newsvine), Jeff Veen (Googler).

    Ted-

I was there at the summit and you were the most entertaining speaker. I was a little hung over thanks to google, but you woke me up and got me going once again. Those 2 days were so valuable, great job.

PS. Just saw the pic of Shasta on your header… Are you from there? My grandma is from there and I headed there after the conference.
