Last Night I Went To Paris
Last night I went to Paris and watched a couple I never met confront their decision to end their 15 year marriage. They still laughed at each other’s jokes, had lifetimes of care for the other and were considered ‘Un Couple Parfait’ by their friends. It was very clear to me this couple could just have easily been one from the United States, but their understanding of their distance was much more ‘adult’ than how most American couples handle similar situations.

The story of ‘The Perfect Couple‘ is actually a new French movie we saw as part of the SFiFF (runs thru May 4th.) The Festival write-up caputres it quite well. The movie’s long fixed-position shots combinded with uncomfortabel close hand-held perspective keep the film’s narrative uncomfortable and naked yet always sincere enough to keep wanting to watch more.
This film is literaly one of dozens offering the chance to instantly travel to as many cultures and leave yours behind for a couple hours. No visas required.
