Gettin’ My Film On
Thanks to the wonders of the “New Media”, I’ve been invited to be a Citizen Press Corp for the San Francisco International Film Festival (SFiFF). Long story short, I’m going to be watching a slew of great movies from all over the world and doing my best to write about them here.
Kicking things off was a viewing of ‘Street Fight‘ a documentary of the 2002 Newark mayoral campaign. A no-holds-barred 30 year incumbent challenged by a young Stamford grad. Street Fight is too nice a title for the dirty tricks campaign run by the incumbent. It actually reminded me a lot of the completely-free-of-ethics campaigns I witnessed while living in Bangladesh - importing ’supporters’ from other cities, painting over signs, mobile bull-horn trucks blaring out public speaches, city workers fearing the voting machines have been tampered, etc. etc. etc.
The SFiFF starts the 20th and runs until May 4th.
