I recently made my first Firefox extention called Who Is This Person?. It’s a simple right-click utility which queries websites for any name. It was inspired by Scott Rafer, a real smart guy, who knows your next business partner could be one click away. Who Is This Person? can quickly show you if you’re networked to someone on LinkedIn, see if a person is newsworthy (or not ;) via Wikipedi, Technorati, Google News, TailRank, or even find out their homebase or phone via Yahoo People Search and ZabaSearch. It’s great for reporters, deal makers, academics and or as Molly says, nosy neighbors.

If you use Firefox, you can download Who Is This Person? anytime. If you’re not using Firefox, you may want to give that a try. I’ll keep adding any features that make sense, so if you use it and can see improvements, give me a holler.

If you ever wanted to make an extension and you know or want to learn some javascript and software UI, it’s definitely something you can accomplish. The overall construction process of overlaying your functionality on top of the Firefox core is a bit excessive, but once you get the 10-12 auxillary files perfect you’re set to actually develop the code for your extension’s functionality.

Finally, a big thanks to the FlockStar mailing list who more than just know everything mozilla, care for it as their own.
