So What’s Your Story? SMITH Wants to Know.

SmithMag.us

Check out the new superdope SMITHmag.us online mag. It’s a web release of a forthcoming publication of the same name. SMITH’s perspective is that everyone has a story, and most all of them are culturally relevant. In their words, “we’re about the individual’s place in the conversation of our time. We’re curious, populist and participatory. We believe everyone has a story. Everyone is SMITH.”

Just go to their homepage and explore. The web works very well for them. Long interviews, personal stories (both long and short), photo collections are accompanied by daily blog-like entries. Each piece allows for comments which are meant to tease the reader into becoming a participant and ideally tease their own story out of them.

Don’t miss this month’s interview with Paul Riekhoff, a Wall St. suit turned Army 1st Lt. that may be our most important activist soldier. Get yourself on the RSS feed and check back in often, and see what your story is.

Congrats to Larry Smith, Tim Barkow and the rest for making this happen. For all the talk we hear about the reduced barriers to entry in publishing thanks to the internet, with the exception of push-button personal blogging, there are very few people making the effort to prove it. I assume that’s because, in the end, even with the reduced costs, doing a large daily, weekly or monthly pub is still a lot of work. Kudos to the SMITH team for rising to the challenge.
