Media == Thyself

For years now I’ve heard Molly drop the science of Webzine on me, the web publishers gathering that began before the tech boom and stayed independent through out it. At SXSW this year Eddie Codel refelt the love of independent publishing again and said I gotta tell Ryan, we’re getting Webzine back together. The three of them have since been fixatedly scheming hard with a right-on group of fellow-volunteers and Webzine2005 is now just 30 days away.
Webzine is a celebration of independent publishing by both old hands and young scrappers. Whether online phenom, buzzing blogger, xeroxzinester, podcast star, videocaster, glossy magazine publisher, alternate reality maven, flickr group fav, creative commons sample hero, stencil revolutionary, none or all of the above, if you are independently making media for others to consume or you simply love consuming it, Webzine will be for you.
It will be in SF September 24 & 25th at the Swedish American Hall. And you know this is truly for of and by the people as advance tickets are only $20 for everything! I’m putting together a panel on nurturing your publication’s community to create a whole new level of opportunities. Whether worldwide publisher or a readership of 10, they landscape is literally littered with tools for creating a vibrant community of like-minded people … but using the right ones in the right ways, is a special science. I’ve always said you can lead a person to a website but you can’t make them do anything there! I expect attendants to have just as much valid experience from the panelists and everyone in the room will learn something … which is just they way I like.
Dang it! If you’ll be in or near SF Sept 24 & 25, free it up and get ready to be inspired and get ready to share!
